A ship struck a bridge that crosses Baltimore’s harbor, the U.S. Coast Guard said early Tuesday.

The crash, at the Francis Scott Key Bridge, was confirmed by Matthew West, a petty officer first class for the Coast Guard in Baltimore. He did not specify the type of ship or say when it hit the bridge.

The extent of the damage to the bridge, which is part of Interstate 695, was not immediately clear on Tuesday morning. The Baltimore Police did not respond to a request for comment.

This is a developing story.
