Popsugar Limited Edition Womens Winter Box Review December
Subscription:Popsugar Limited Edition Womens Box
Cost: $, sold out
What to Expect: “Enjoy a monthly delivery of full-sized surprises worth over $, curated by POPSUGAR Founder & President Lisa Sugar.”
This is my first Limited Edition box [or what we in the box biz call LE box]! I’m usually really not into the “luxe” items that are sent out in LE boxes, and I’d rather get my bang for my buck. HOWEVER, I was reeled in by the blanket spoiler, so I threw $ at PS for the third time this year, and they were like “okay cool bro, now wait a month so we can send this to you.”
Popsugar Winter for Her
In a Zoe box review, Pnut mentioned her box writing didnt look as shiny in the picture as it did in person. I knew what she meant! I was happy to be able to hit my box at the right angle to get it shiny.
Lets dig in to the box!
Charcoal Muskoka Throw Pehr Blanket: $
This isn’t like $ fancy for me. That would be like a giant blanket that I could make a cocoon inside of and live with ridiculous warmth and softness. However, it is a nice lap blanket but it’s one of those smaller blankets that doesn’t go around you.
I’ve put it in my office for now until I get a reading chair which will be a double wide chair with like 10 blankets and two kitties!
That’s right, McBoyfriend promised me [again] that we were getting a kitty when we move! Now if the housing market would just calm down…
Until then, heres one kitty on the blanket! I love this photo of her.
Around the World Eye Shadow Palette by Cargo Cosmetics: $34
I wasn’t expecting another palette from Popsugar! They sent one in the December box that I had barely used when this beast showed up.
Seriously, Ive never owned a makeup palette this large. It doesnt even fit in my makeup and jewelry mirror cabinet!
I really like this giant thing, and Ive never owned any palettes before that weren’t a sampler kit. These colors are lovely, and half of them are shimmers. I hadnt realized until I was writing this review that the colors are supposed to be used in duos and quads. The brush isnt great, but thats okay because I own at least two eyeshadow brushes.
Err I should do a brush sub sometime!
Louis Sherry 6-Piece Pink Truffle Collection: $
Whoa, this seemed spendy, but at $/truffle its what Id expect to see for fancy chocolates. The six pack comes with: Strawberry Romanoff, Mexican Vanilla, Pomegranate Crème, Coffee Costa d’Oro, Fleur de Sel Caramel, and Raspberry Crème.
Yum. I’ve eaten two and hidden the rest in my office on a shelf with my jewelry making supplies =) Sidenote: the papers were stupidly hard to get out, especially when I really wanted to eat a chocolate!
Tiny Satchel from The Cambridge Satchel Company:$, but some colors are on sale for 40% off
This spoiler was cute at first, then when I got it I realized I would never use it.
First off, the buckles are stupidly hard to open and this isn’t a purse you can just leave flapping open because everything would fall out. Second, there are no pockets and my #1 purse rule is: POCKETS. So, this $ purse is going on to a better home. Le sigh.
R+Co Tinsel Smoothing Oil:$24 for 2oz
No surprise here, I’m not going to be keeping this. I’m very skeptical of hair items that are not meant for curls, so I tend to just pawn them off on coworkers and co-bloggers with more manageable hair.
Also, I thought this was room or sheet spray at first, so I was bummed to see it wasnt!
Simpatico Hobnail Snow Glass Reed Diffuser Gift Set: $ for 8 oz
My diffuser from last winter’s FFF box is almost empty after a year of sitting out! Is that pretty standard?? It still smells too, and I try to flip the sticks once per week or so. I also got a DIY diffuser from Maker’s Kit a few months ago, and spent $25 on a Bath and Bodyworks plug in scent sale, so I’m good on diffusers for now.
I gifted this to my sister-in-law, and just noticed the price! Jeeeez. For a diffuser??
Verdict: So, around a $ value for $! This box was alright. The items that I am keeping are valued at more than what I paid for the box, and I’ve got no regrets. Also, this year the women’s out-shined the men’s and last year it was vice-versa, so I’m pleased!
Last year I did have FOMO for the men’s box.
What did you think? Did you splurge on any LE boxes for yourself this holiday season? Let us know!

So it’s time to review the most expensive sub box I order: The Neiman Marcus Popsugar Limited Edition box. Thankfully it is only offered once a year, although after this box I will probably not be ordering it again. With taxes I paid a whopping $ in anticipation of some awesome high end goodies. Last year I got a great box so my expectations were high.
As usual fancy box with nicely packaged items and a foldout card.
Clare V. Foldover Clutch(Suggested Retail: $)
Description: “This signature foldover clutch is the best of both worlds: style and versatility. Depending on your mood and outfit, choose a side to complete any look. Toss it into a larger bag to keep your most important necessities organized, or let it be the star of your outfit as you make the rounds at holiday parties.”
Is this a nice, well made clutch? Yes, it is. Does it look remarkably similar to other bags from recent Popsugar boxes? Yes, yes, it does. The clutch included in the LE Resort box looked remarkably similar in both color and shape. And in our November box, what did we receive? Another small blue bag that is nearly identical in color to the blue on this one. Tell me Popsugar, why do we need so very many small blue bags? Why? If they had just done this bag in another color scheme it would have been a huge hit. Imagine this in a metallic mix, like a rose gold with silver or a metallic with a winter whitehow amazing would that be? This doesn’t scream out holiday party to me and we’ve seen this same blue and black color scheme with Popsugar accessories over and over again this year. I think this purse will make a nice gift for someone, but in the context of being curated for a Popsugar box this was not a good choice.
Mariebelle Azetc Hot Chocolate Tin(Suggested Retail: $)
Description: “Stay warm during Winter with this natural hot chocolate mix. Made with South American cacao and rich dark chocolate, this decadent treat is perfect for sharing with loved ones on a cozy night.”
Hot chocolate made sense for the season and this is an attractive tin. I think this will be the perfect addition to someone’s Christmas gift, so it is being added to the Great Christmas Stash of
Swing Design Mia Glass Storage Box(Suggested Retail: $)
Description: “Keep valuables safe and tidy in this gorgeous hexagonal storage box. The two-toned detailing, beveeled edges and soft interior make it an elegant place to store your jewelry or other sentimental pieces.”
This is a nice trinket box, but there’s just not much to it. It’s pretty, but boring and I think the curators could have found something more compelling that actually screamed out “must have”. I think I may end up using this on my desk to hold little odds and ends since I think it looks more interesting as an upscale office organizer than a jewelry box.
ChanteCaille Brillant Gloss & Supreme Cils Mascara(Suggested Retail: $/$)
Description: “This duo works double duty to keep your lips supple and your lashes fierce all day long. The Brillant Gloss, with green tea extract lives up to its name by naturally hydrating and plumping your lips. The Supreme Cils Mascara, with its rosewater infused formula, plays up eyes with long-lasting volume add definition.”
Verdict: zzzzzzzz, sorry I fell asleep
There are two items that beauty box junkies have in a huge quantity (besides credit card bills). Black mascara and pinkish nude glosses. They come in every other box. But I don’t mind them in a $10 Birchbox or even a $40 Popsugar Must Have, but I expect a hell of a lot more from a limited Edition $+ box. Last year we got an amazing kaleidoscope beauty palette from Metier de Beaute and this not even close to how special or interesting that was. Chantecaille makes some other cool makeup and for some reason they chose this snoozefest to include. Very disappointing.
Lancer, The Method Nourish (Retail: $)
Description: “Celebrity secret weapon Lancer delivers the Fountain of Youth with this potent antiaging moisturizer. Nourish boosts your skin’s oxygen level and increases its metabolism for a visibly renewed and you youthful glow.”
Verdict: zzzzzz, sorry, still asleep
I like moisturizers and I like trying fancy ones, but I just can’t get excited about this one. It just doesn’t seem that interesting and I have so many moisturizers in my beauty horde that I’m waiting to try out. I think I would have been more intrigued by this if the other beauty items had been more fun.
Monica Rich Kosann Cream Enamel Frame(Suggested Retail: $)
Description: “This beautiful picture frame gives us another reason to show off those precious holiday memories. This frame looks flawless at every angle, with a suede back and cream-colored enamel border.”
Verdict: Seriously? SERIOUSLY!
This small 5X7 frame costs $ No, really take that in. This is like the over-priced wedding frames that people put on their registries and I always wonder who buys them since you can get nicer ones at TJ Maxx for $ Now I know. Popsugar. This is so, so painfully boring. Like school filmstrips about plankton boring. And when did we just get a picture frame? In the October Popsugar box, only it was a lot more interesting than this one. Is it a decent frame? Sure, as far as white enamel frames go. Is it worth $? Maybe if you had a box with ten of them in it. I don’t even know who to give this to – it’s like “I don’t know you enough to get you a personal gift, but I want you to feel obligated by an item with a high price tag. Enjoy the frame.” This is the item that tipped me from disliking this box to hating it. This is some lazy, half-assed curation which is not as big a deal for a $40 box, but if I’m shelling out a fortune I expect better than a small white picture frame. Popsugar, you can do better than this. Shame on Neiman Marcus for pawning off the stuff nobody wants to pay full price for in this box and double shame on Popsugar for letting them do it to your subscribers.
Missioni Home by Apothia Candle(Suggested Retail: $)
Category: Must Have Beauty
Description: “Easily incorporate Missoni’s iconic designs into home décor with this stunning candle. IT’s an excellent pop of pattern for any room or gift for the stylish hostess in your life. Partnering with Apothia, Missoni captures the scent of Italian breezes and night-blooming jasmine in this candle.”
Finally, something I really love. One thing in this whole damn box and it’s an $88 candle. But, this has a nice design and it’s Missoni, which is a super cool brand. When the candle is finished I will definitely be reusing the canister. The scent on this is fresh, unusual and appealing. While candles aren’t super exciting on their own I think this was a good example of taking a basic item and offering us an interesting spin on it. This has a cool design, a unique scent and is from a prestige brand. Everything in this box should have been more like this.
As I’ve mentioned repeatedly, this box cost me a ton of money $ to be exact. I don’t expect sub boxes to fit all my expectations or match my interests perfectly every time. What I do expect is curation to be on par with previous boxes and with the expectation that the brand has set up. Last year’s Neiman Marcus box was interesting and high end. I gifted parts of it and some items I didn’t personally use, but overall I could see why they chose the items they did and each one fit with the type of aesthetic you expect from Popsugar and Neiman Marcus.
Technically this box is “worth” $ I honestly, don’t even see my $ in there. Nearly all the items were boring and the ones that weren’t boring, were repeats of stuff we just received in Popsugar boxes. This was some incredibly lazy curation. You do not drop the ball on the $+ box.
Based on Facebook posts and blogs I was not the only customer hugely disappointed with this box. And to add insult to injury, Neiman Marcus offers this box on their site and just had a sale where you could get $50 off your purchase. So you could get this “oh so special, limited edition, will sell out asap box” for a huge clearance price. Doesn’t that make all of us idiots who paid over $ feel oh, so good?
Adding this horribly curated box to all of the customer service issues in October and I am quite angry with my previously beloved Popsugar sub. They continue to offer special deals and discounts to “new” customers while ignoring their existing ones and allowing a horrific level of customer service. I have seen no coupon deal or extra item for existing customers to make up for all the late October deliveries and ongoing customer service problems.
They have now released their Holiday Limited Edition boxes for him and her and this is the spoiler for the women’s box:
I adored last year’s Holiday box and I have purchased every Popsugar LE box since I joined in Fall of last year. I even like the item in this spoiler. Will I order? Most likely not. I’m so disappointed with the Neiman Marcus box that I don’t feel like handing over another $ to Popsugar, especially during the holidays when money is tight. Its sad because I’ve been an extremely loyal customer, so if Popsugar can lose me, then I can only imagine how many other customers are feeling the same way.
What did you think of this box? Do you think it was worth the high price tag or was it just a big disappointment in a fancy package?
Popsugar is a women’s lifestyle subscription that delivers a monthly box of fun, full-size products hand-selected by Popsugar editors.
In addition to Popsugar’s monthly must have boxes, they have some seasonal special edition boxes that contain uber luxe items. The price tag on these boxes is higher, but the products you receive are high end.

PopSugar Must Have vs. FabFitFun Summer Box!
Happy Saturday, everyone! Today, I’m excited to be sharing my thoughts on the summer PopSugar Must Have and FabFitFun boxes :) I know I’m a little late to the party on this one (especially since the fall boxes for these two subscriptions are already out!) but since PopSugar has changed its format to a quarterly box instead of a monthly box, I thought it was still worth sharing my comparison of the two. If you’re curious about how these two quarterly boxes compare to one another, stay tuned!
PopSugar Must Have Box:
This summer box is the first quarterly PopSugar Must Have box. Each PopSugar Must Have box is a $75/box quarterly subscription that includes full-size fashion, beauty, fitness, and lifestyle items. This summer’s box focused on products that will help you unwind and relax!
Sunday Riley C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum - You know me, I’m a huge skincare junkie so this product was by far my favorite of the box! My skin is pretty amenable to new products so I love getting to try out new skincare. I’ve heard tons of good things about Sunday Riley and I was really happy to see such an expensive product in the box because it always makes me feel like I’m getting more value than what I paid for it!.
Lele Sadoughi Circle Garland Earrings - I didn’t expect to love these earrings, however, as I’ve been trying them out, I’ve found that they literally go with any outfit so I have to put them in my faves!
Beauty by PopSugar Lip Gloss - This one’s just a personal preference, but I’m not one for glosses (I love a good matte lip!) so this one went straight to my mom - who I’m sure appreciates having another gloss in her collection!
Sphynx 3-in-1 Portable Razor - This product might be useful to someone else but it really missed the mark for me. I have a sort of love/hate relationship with shaving products because honestly, I don’t really feel the need to buy shaving cream when I can use things like soap or conditioner and get the same effect. Since I usually only bring a simple disposable razor with me when I travel, this portable 3-in-1 razor would actually be heavier than what I currently pack with me, so I don’t think it’ll see much use.
Overall, this PopSugar Must Have box was a bit of a flop for me. Even my favorites of the box were items that I love, but weren’t things I necessarily felt like I needed (although they were nice to have!). Nothing in particular excited me about the box and while the retail value of the box is quite high, I’m a girl on a budget and would likely never spend $$ on a pair of earrings or a robe! Most of the items in this box were in the “just okay” pile and didn’t make it into my flops or my faves!
FabFitFun is a quarterly subscription box that sends full-size versions of the seasons top fitness, fashion, beauty, and wellness products. Each box is about $50 if you subscribe month-to-month and slightly less if you select an annual subscription.
Pier 1 Imports: Marble Ring Dish - Retail $
Foreo Luna: FoFo - Retail $89
Foreo Luna FoFo - I already love my travel size foreo face brush but my biggest gripe about it is that it doesn’t have a replaceable battery so once it dies, I won’t be able to use it! This foo does have a replaceable battery and is an even bigger size so I’m super happy about receiving something I already love from a brand I already love! :)
Tarte Tarteist Pro Palette & Liner - I chose to receive the liquid eyeliner and eyeshadow palette (instead of the pro glow palette, which I already own) and I am so happy I did! This eyeshadow palette is creamy, has the perfect muted shades, and smells like chocolate - AMAZING.
Orlando Pita Play Hair Protectant Spray - I did not expect to love this spray as much as I did because, in my experience, a lot of hair products don’t make a noticeable different. This protectant spray? Game changer. It leaves my hair feeling so smooth and all the tangles in my hair are completely gone after I use it. I’ve already used half the bottle and might have to re-purchase soon! 🙈
Yumi Kim Makeup Train Case - You can never have too many make-up bags so I chose to receive this train case and it has been so handy for traveling this past summer! It has a little top compartment perfect for all of my brushes and the main compartment is big enough to fit all of my make-up -even blush palettes and giant face powders!
Minor History: Post Script Wallet - This wallet is waaaay to small to big functional. It’s partially my fault since I didn’t read its specs more closely, but I expected it to be a normal wallet size when in reality it’s smaller than my palm. Unfortunately, I just don’t think I’ll have much use for it!
Verdict: This summer, the box win goes % to FabFitFun. I was so much happier with the products I received from the FabFitFun box and actually felt excited about most of the things I received. Usually I’m a bit more torn when comparing boxes but I am pleasantly surprised by how happy I am with the products and the value of the FabFitFun box.
Before the switch to their quarterly box, I was a huge supporter of the PopSugar Must Have box. Their original box was a monthly subscription for $40 per box (or less if you bought a 3, 6 or 12 month bundle) and since I always looked for deals or bought bundles of boxes, I always ended up paying less than $40 a box for what I felt was a really good collection of lifestyle, beauty, and fashion items that appealed to a lot of different people. PopSugar’s decision to switch to a quarterly box was partially motivated by the fact that they also offered more expensive but also popular limited edition boxes that offered high-end products. In essence, they’ve combined their monthly subscription box and their limited edition box into this quarterly $75/box system.
Unfortunately, I’m really torn about this new PopSugar switch! I’ve never felt the need to purchase a limited edition box and honestly think that the $75/box price point is a little too high. I still plan to receive the next PopSugar box, but frankly, if the next box shows the same pattern, I think I’ll be giving my PopSugar Must Have subscription the boot!
What are your thoughts on these two subscription boxes? Do you like PopSugar’s new quarterly box? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
