Support Adoption and Rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why Should You Adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

Areas McLennan Animal Rescue Coalition Serves

McLennan Animal Rescue Coalition (MARC) is a 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization. We are foster-home based which means we have no physical shelter where we house our animals. All of our awesome adoptable pets are raised in volunteer foster homes with tons of love. We are located in McLennan County, TX.

While we do adopt animals to individuals who live outside of our immediate area (including all/most of Texas), we do not process out-of-state adoptions at this time. Thank you for your understanding.

MARC does not take pets from the public.

McLennan Animal Rescue Coalition's Adoption Process

Our adoption fees vary from FREE to $75 per animal, we accept cash, check or credit card. Our adoption process consists of three items: 1) first, the online Adoption Application (see below) is completed, 2) once the application is approved, a simple adoption contract is signed and finally, 3) adoption fee is paid.

We are very happy to arrange meetings between individual pets and interested adopters either before an application has been submitted or after. Just email us at [email protected] to set up a meeting with one of our rockstar pets!

About McLennan Animal Rescue Coalition

Mission: To reduce the unnecessary killing of our community's animals through proven life-saving programs, advocacy and education with the ultimate goal of achieving a No-Kill community.

MARC was founded in 2012 with a specific focus on rescuing in-need pets from our City's shelter. At this time, MARC focuses solely on rescuing shelter animals who are at high risk of euthanasia at the Waco Shelter. As of early 2015, MARC has saved over 550 'death-row' pets thanks to foster parents, donors and adopters.

All of our rescued animals were saved from 'death-row' and by adopting one of our awesome pets, you help us save another life in need!

Animal Shelter

Humane Society of Central Texas

The Humane Society of Central Texas (HSCT) is an advocate for the community goal of maintaining a no-kill status at the shelter. Staff works hard to maintain a 90% or higher live-exit rate.

HSCT has a contract partnership with the City of Waco at the Animal Shelter, which is an open-admission, regional, shelter serving the cities of: Bellmead, Beverly Hills, Bruceville-Eddy, Crawford, Hewitt, Lacy Lakeview, Lorena, Marlin, Mart, McGregor, Moody, Riesel, Robinson, Waco, West and Woodway. The population served is estimated to be around 260,000 people.

The Humane Society of Central Texas provides adoption, rescue, and foster opportunities for the homeless animals at the shelter, as well as community education regarding responsible pet ownership.

The HSCT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization operated solely on donations from the community.

The shelter has reached no-kill status for one-year, but the doors are never closed to admitted animals making community support extremely important.

To maintain a no-kill status shelter is a challenge and adoptions and fosters are vital! Spay/neuter and microchipping are the law in Robinson and vital to keeping the animal shelter population down. For information on low cost spay/neuter surgeries visit Animal Birth Control.
