Reviews

Volunteer in Sunriver, OR

Nice place to volunteer

Due to the fact that I merely volunteered, I can't quite say everything that happened. Usually, I'd come in for an hour to return the books and DVDs to their proper places, but that was about it. One time, I did cut some paper for an arts and crafts event, but altogether there wasn't a lot happening.

Latino Services Specialist in Bend, OR

Fun place to work....if you love books!

A typical day at work consisted of providing excellent customer service to everyone, in person and/or on the phone; assisting customers find what they were looking for and if we didn't have it, making sure that they left with something in their hands (i.e. information on where else they could find their particular title, a list of other titles they may be interested, etc.); and making sure that the library shelves were well stocked and organized.

My co-workers were a pleasure to work with, it was a very relaxed, friendly, family-like atmosphere. Management was just as good; my immediate supervisor was encouraging, many times telling me exactly what i needed to hear (even if it was unpleasant) and she always advocated for my position.

The hardest part of the job, for me, was to be able to serve the Latino community more consistently. Due to a restructure AND the opening of a new branch, my community service hours dropped considerably and i wasn't able to perform that aspect of the job as well as i had wanted. On the same token, though, providing outreach services was the most enjoyable part of my job!
