Small Bites: Crab Station Oyster Bar offers fresh seafood, boils
Louisiana and East Texas transplants can rejoice now that Midland has a restaurant specializing in fresh seafood.
Crab Station Oyster Bar is now open at 3408 N. Midkiff Road Suite #104. The restaurant, which started in Dallas, also has a location in Odessa at 4231 N. Dixie Blvd. Owner Tony Phan wanted to bring a seafood option to town.
“I’m trying to provide Midland with fresh and live seafood to the middle of the desert,” he said. “We opened at the beginning of February.”
The restaurant also has a variety of options for fresh oysters, such as the traditional oysters on a half shell, oyster ceviche and cooked oyster options, like bacon Rockefeller, charbroiled, Cajun garlic parmesan and firecracker fried. Sauce options for crawfish, shrimp, blue crabs, king crab legs, snow crab legs, clams, mussels and lobster boils include garlic butter, weak sauce, original, extra Shazam, flame thrower and T.K.O, the spiciest option with ghost pepper added to the extra Shazam sauce.
“A lot of people come for the crab and shrimp,” Phan said. “But we also have live crawfish, live blue crab and live lobster as well.”
Crab station offers sacks of seafood by different sizes. The small sack will feed one to two people, the medium will feed two to four and the large will feed four to five, Phan said. Fried seafood options include the station platter, which can have catfish, shrimp, oyster or chicken with dirty rice. Staff members like the garlic noodles with either lobster or shrimp on top. For those not wanting seafood, Crab Station Oyster Bar offers a wagyu cheeseburger, Buffalo chicken sandwich and wings.
Wine, beer, draft beer and liquor drinks are available. The restaurant has happy hour Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The happy hour has a dollar off on beer and $5 margaritas.
