To the untrained eye, this circa Weber Genesis Platinum C gas grill looks like a piece of junk, ready for the scrap heap. But Scott P. from Porter, TX knew better. He picked it up on Craigslist for $50, gave it some spit and polish, and it&#;s ready for many more years of grilling.

Scott gave the grill a thorough cleaning inside and out, then removed the storage enclosure and did some repair to the floor pan using a rust converter, bonding primer, and graphite spray paint.

A little more polishing of the stainless steel and gray painted surfaces and this gasser was ready for action!

&#;The burners all work well. It got up to °F in about 6 minutes and °F a bit later,&#; says Scott. &#;I could have spent more time sanding and grinding to smooth out the rust and old paint, but I was looking to do this quick.&#;

When we launched the Genesis gas grill line back in , we launched more than a new line of grills- we launched a grilling revolution. The Genesis line changed the way gas grills work with a new and innovative cooking system that stopped flare-ups and created even heat without messy lava rocks. Our system was so good, it wasn't long before other brands tried to replicate it. Close, but no cigar. Weber's cooking system is still the best on the market, and here's why: Burneres made of high-grade stainless steel run the length of the cookbox, providing even heat accross the grill. --Flavorizer bars completely cover the burners, no holes or cutouts. They are precisely angled to generate heat and facilitate run off of juices that aren't vaporized. --A drip system for directing grease away from the burners. Drippings are channeled into a funnel shaped bottom tray under the burners and collect in a large drip pan. Both the funnel-shaped tray and the drip pan are easy to remove from the front of the grill. --At least two or more individually controlled burners for cooking direct or indirect. Burners have infinite control valves so you can fine tune the temperature. Genesis Platinum gas grills include two model types--B and C. Platinum B models have three burners, and Platinum C models have three burners and a 12, BTU-per-hour input side burner. Weber Genesis Platinum Restore

Hey everyone I wanted to share my quick restore of a weber genesis platinum.

The most interesting thing of this particular grill is that the frame is stainless steel and when I found that out I really wanted one. The problem with these grills is that they have the closed cart design that most genesis have. I never liked this design because the bottom always rusted out as well as the side and back panels develop rust.

After trying to save the bottom panel by scraping and painting, I hated how it turned out so I decided to see if the bottom of my genesis gold would fit on the stainless frame and to my surprise it did. I love the open cart design so I ordered a bottom rack for it part number I believe with this setup: stainless frame , wire rack bottom, and some rcplanebuyer grates and flavorizer bars I will have a grill for a long long time and will never have the dreaded frame rust issue on the side where the cookbox gets attached to the frame that all these grills are known for.

Here it is completely unassembeled and cleaned up.

Restoring a Weber Grill - Genesis 1000

Looking around, I looked for the source of this sound. At first I thought that my mother was just snoring, but then I realized that this was not so. Coming closer, I felt a light, almost imperceptible breath of air, and a quiet, rustling sound. Coming even closer on tiptoe, I bent down to her head.

Mom breathed very quietly and did not snore at all.
