It’s dark and seductive with curvy leather banquettes, black gloss finishes, and gold touches. STK, which has locations in other major cities around the world (this one's in the Cosmopolitan), prides itself on being “not your daddy’s steakhouse"that’s apparent the moment you walk in and hear a DJ. What was the crowd like?
These folks are ready to party, and the food is sometimes just an afterthought (or the background for an Instagram selfie). Dancing on the banquettes has also been known to happen. What should we be drinking?
The cocktail menu plays off the sexy attitude of the restaurant with cheekily named drinks like “Not Your Daddy’s Manhattan,” “Not Your Mama’s Melons” (that’s a Grey Goose Le Melon drink) and a "Cucumber Stiletto" (Ketel One Citron, cucumber, and mint.) But at $19 a pop the price outpaces the drinks, so a more economical choice would be to split a bottle of wine. The wine list is on the smaller side for a steakhouse, but this place is more about the scene than the vintages. Main event: the food. Give us the lowdown.
STK has lightened up the usual steakhouse suspects. For starters, there’s the classic iceberg wedge salad, but also a kale salad, and a chopped vegetable salad. The raw bar has caviar and oysters as well as ceviche and yellowtail crudo. The meats, which are grass-fed and corn-finished, come in small (a 6-ounce filet “medallion”), medium (a ounce dry-aged Delmonico) and large sizes (a whopping ounce cowboy rib chop). Dessert options remain deliciously bad for you, like the funnel cakes and the ice cream trio, but the maple-glazed STK donuts are a bonafide crowd-pleaser. And how did the front-of-house folks treat you?
STK is known more for its party vibe than its incredible service. Diners have reported waiting up to 45 minutes past their reservation time, and it can sometimes feel as if you’re in a nightclub that just happens to serve food. What’s the real-real on why we’re coming here?

Like the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, STK redefines the traditional. STK's goal is to bring a lounge-like, "female friendly" vibe to the restaurant. In addition to the sophisticated decor at STK, you've got the food. Start your evening with beef and tuna tartare, shrimp rice krispies, or caviar. Steaks are listed in small, medium, or large categories. Filet medallion is in the small section, while the ounce cowboy rib steak definitely falls under the "large" section. Top your meal with foie gras, truffle butter, or lobster. If you're not feeling like steak, STK also offers chicken, lamb, pork and seafood. At the helm is executive chef Stephen Hopcraft, who has appeared on Bravo’s "Top Chef" and Food Network’s "Chefs vs. City." Design elements include a central lounge furnished with creamy leather banquettes, and an elevated dining room featuring smoky mirrors and theatrical lights illuminating each table. Seafood lovers will enjoy the seafood platter, a mix of pickled prawns, Kusshi oysters, king crab and Maine lobster. Steaks come in plate sizes of small, medium and large, with a choice of cuts including skirt, filet, sirloin, bone-in rib and porterhouse. An STK staple is the king crab salad, a mix of avocado, honeydew, makrut lime and organic mâche. Don’t miss the truffle Parmesan french fries and the mushroom potpie, which doubles as a topping for steak. Creative desserts include a trio of cheesecake lollipops, covered with a coating of white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate, flavored with vanilla, raspberry and caramel. A distinctive wine menu emphasizes selections from California and also includes options from Italy, France and Australia.
